This site is built from a structured, sourced dataset — every figure traced back to a Freedom of Information response or an official statistic. The web pages are one view of that dataset. For SEND solicitors, EHCP advisers, researchers, and journalists who need more than the web pages, the underlying data itself is the product.

What exists behind the site

• A structured dataset — every council's real reported figures (appeals registered, resolved-before-hearing, contested outcomes, decision-type breakdowns where disclosed) plus official DfE volume data, all keyed by local authority and source citation. Not just what's rendered on a council's page — the underlying structured records.
• Coverage tracking — which councils have a real answer, which have an answer stuck in an unread document, and which are genuine gaps, updated as more Freedom of Information responses land.
• The estimation methodology — the same pooled-rate approach used for England-wide figures can be run against a specific council, region, or comparator set on request, with the same transparency about what it does and doesn't account for.
